Transition

As I type this I have said the words "back in bed" about 15 times and escorted a little someone back to their bed as many times.
The "big girl" bed is not going well.
At all.
What use to be a 5-10 min routine took 2 hours last night and the night before, with a 4 am wake-up thrown in as well. Needless to say, we are all quite sleep deprived and crabby.

Please tell me this gets easier???

Since when did I become Mom?

What happened to Mommy?
Daddy is now Dad.

Can someone please tell me where my baby is? Who is this kid that is...well...a kid?

Time seems to just be flying by a little too fast for me!

We had our 2 yr visit with the doctor this week and he said that she is average.
Average for a 3 yr old.
What?!

She is 36" tall and weighs just over 30lbs.

The other day she said a 6 word sentence to me. "Don't worry Mama, I'll help you."

It's insane.

The Festivities

The birthday girl was not ready for the party to end

Thanks to all who came to celebrate and take part in the chaos! This year we asked people to donate to Ethiopian Orphan Relief in lieu of gifts-we are happy to say that a good chunk of change has made it into their hands :)

My absolutely riveting day

Ok, here goes......

6:40am

7:40am- The first of many

9am- Watching a little LazyTown (minus pants) while I attempt to organize toys & clean

10am- Trying to get small child out of the house in a reasonable amount of time, with as little screaming as possible.

11am- Field-trip to Target complete. I needed to buy stuff for the T's birthday party. We always splurge on a latte & biscotti for Target trips. It makes it bearable for both of us

Noon- Had to make a stop at World Market for wine & sangria.

12:40ish- Back home for lunch

1:40pm- Oh, thank God

2:40pm- Couldn't nap. Decided to get some reading done

4pm- Dunkin' Donuts. Yes, I am aware that I have a problem.

5pm-ish- Trying to find party store for balloons. Got lost. Damn GPS says it doesn't exist. Gave up and went home.

6pm- Time to feed the beasts!

7ish- Post dinner tubby time!

8pm- Help has arrived!!! Just in time for bedtime!

9pm- My turn!

10pm- Feet up, mindless TV and off to bed.

Ego boost

For the past few days T has been telling me (quite incessantly) that I am beautiful :) All day it's "beeeee-yoooo-tiful mommy" and "mommy beeee-uuuu-tiful"

Ryan asked me how many times I had to say it to get her to say it (jerk!)
I swear, she came up with it on her own :)

Maybe it's because I have taken to wearing one of her barrettes....

Or maybe it's because I tell her everyday how beautiful she is :)

Big Changes

As we are fast approaching the BIG 0-2, some big changes have started in our house. First, Ryan & I trekked to IKEA to purchase a big girl bed for T. We thought we would just convert her crib to a toddler bed but the "converter"kit is $89 (gasp!) The bed at IKEA was less. We went with the bed. We haven't put it together yet. Ryan needs to anchor all of the hazards in her room to the wall...and frankly, I am a little scared of having an unconfined child ;)

The second big change is the potty. I hadn't planned on really potty training her until spring/summer but she has apparently decided that it is time. She goes multiple times a day, of course we still have accidents and she has NO desire to poop in the potty, but she is doing great! Apparently, M & M's (or M's, as she calls them) are a HUGE motivator. Last night, she made 4 trips to the potty and managed to squeak out 4 little dribbles, just for M's :) I have a feeling that this 1 M&M per productive potty visit is going to backfire on me.

Here are some recent photos of T "doin' work"!
And enjoying an ice cold sippy cup of water....
