Grrrr...Paper Towel Monster!!

Reunion Weekend!

I'm a tad late in posting this. To be honest, my pictures suck because my camera spent the majority of the weekend at the bottom of my bag.
This past weekend we met up with most of our travel group for some fun in the city. It was really great seeing everyone again-Gosh, it's amazing how fast all of the kids have grown!
We started out the weekend at an indoor water park-it was nuts! Nora loved it-she really loves the water and I can't believe she made it as long as she did without a nap.
Sunday we all met up at The Ethiopian Diamond for some brunch-Yum! Then we headed down to the zoo to spend the afternoon. It was a beautiful day and we were sad to have to say goodbye to everyone :(
WeI decided to stay downtown for a little longer (again, amazing that Tiny hung on this long) and grab some dinner. We decided on Demera-I mean really, how can you not have Ethiopian food twice in one day :)

It was a great weekend-here are my 7 lame-o photos...enjoy!

She's so.........alert.

Twice in one day someone said this to me about Tiny.

Both instances occurred while waiting in line, both times the words were uttered by older women.

What the heck?

Yes, dear older woman in line at Borders and yes, dear older woman in line at PetSmart I understand that you were probably shocked when you realized that my child didn't "match" me but couldn't you just say "She's so cute, beautiful, whatever" instead of "She's so (long uncomfortable pause) alert"?

It just sounds weird.

My 1st Mother's Day...as a MOM!

It was wonderful, despite the blustery fall-like winds and cold rain :)

Ryan had some grand plans for the big day but they were tossed out do to the horrendous weather :( We ended up at Brookfield Zoo running from one indoor attraction to the next. It was nice to spend the day together as a family and Tiny really enjoyed the animals, especially the big cats. She spent the whole afternoon saying "meow, meow" :)

My perfect day ended with Ryan making my favorite dinner: meatloaf, mashed potatoes & green beans :)

Ryan also planted 2 lillies in our yard- one for me and one for Tiny's Emaye :)

BOO on NBC!!!!

I am pissed.
Royally pissed.

NBC is airing a Mother's Day special this weekend- America's Favorite Mom. Maybe you've seen the commercials? Nice idea-people nominate their favorite Mom and the winner gets something fantastic. Good ol' Donny & Marie are hosting.

The show has categories of moms to vote for. There is the "Military Mom", "Working Mom", "Single Mom" and "Non-Mom Mom".

Wait.

What's a "Non-Mom Mom"?
Well, I guess I would qualify as one since the shows only adoptive mom is in the "Non-Mom Mom" category.

So, according to NBC, I am a "Non-Mom Mom".

And you may be one as well.

Aaaarrgghh, I am so mad I could scream. I sent a *nice* letter to the folks at NBC and will be following it up with one to their sponsor, Teleflora.

Just when I thought people couldn't get any dumber.....

*edit*
I received this email this evening

Thank you for contacting Teleflora to share your thoughts about the"Teleflora presents America's Favorite Mom" program.
In response to your concerns, Teleflora is immediately changing then ame of our "Non-Mom" category to "Adopting Moms." After closer examination, we can see how this may have been offensive to moms who have adopted children -- moms who are indeed real moms to their children in every sense of the word. In fact, many of us at Teleflora are "adopting" parents ourselves, including our president and owner. The essence of this category still focuses on a grandparent, neighbor, step mom, or mom to adopted or foster children, each one raising and loving a child. This show of insensitivity on our part was in no way intended and we deeply apologize for any concern or distress we may have caused. It was always our intent to salute and celebrate all moms.In closing, all of us at Teleflora would like to offer our sincerest best wishes to all the many women throughout the world who have worked so hard and given so much to earn the name "Mom."

Sincerely,
The America's Favorite Mom Team

I am still a little peeved that adoptive moms need their own separate category but I am glad that they responded so quickly.

A Girl and Her Dog

Whatcha lookin' at??

Eeeeeewww!

BFF :)

My Foxes

Ok, so they aren't really my foxes my I like to refer to them in that way :)
Here's the story....

Last week I returned home from work around 2 am and saw what I thought was a raccoon staring at me from the neighbors lawn. As I got a little closer I realized it was a fox! He was sooo beautiful!! Anyways, I have seen him a few times since, always around 2-3am and recently I have seen 3 babies. I have been dying to get a picture but it is always so dark out......until this morning!

My dogs were in the window losing their minds about something and when I looked outside there he was! I went to grab my camera and he was gone (of course) but he soon came back with another adult and 1 little one.

They are running all over my neighborhood and I am so worried that they will get hit by a car, a dog will get to them or some jerk will do something to them because they pooped on his lawn. I have read that the #1 complaint about them is the poop and the carcasses they leave behind.
Gosh, they are gorgeous and fun to watch :)
It makes me sad that they are stuck in my neighborhood because some developer probably just bulldozed their other home.
