chance of a lifetime

T & I woke up at the crack of dawn, hopped in the car and headed up to Madison.....to see our future First Lady speak.

It was awesome and I am so grateful that T was able to experience this. I can't wait to tell her about it and show her photos when she is older :)

18 month checkup

We have just returned from Tiny's 18 month doctor visit and she is doing wonderfully :) My tiny girl is up to 25 lb 11 1/2 oz and is 33 inches tall. She handled the appointment fairly well. She flipped out when we put her on the scale and obviously for her vaccines but other than that she held it together. She even tried (incessantly) to get the doctor to read her a Barney (blech) book. It was pretty funny. Dr. A says that she is right on target developmentally (including right on target for the tantrums!) and ahead in the language department. She does like to talk...alot, and is starting to put words together. She will say "more please", "more milk", "more noni (yogurt)", and "no Maeby!", "Doodie no!" and "hi Peepa!".
Our poor dogs, she is always scolding Maeby & Smokey but is always talking nice to Peanut :)

She continues to amaze me everyday. She has started taking care of her Coco. She pretends to feed her, soothe her and will try to diaper her. She has started showing interest in the potty and sometimes lets us know when she has gone in her diaper. I went out and bought a potty for her but we aren't going to venture down that road until she is 2. She is also starting to throw some major tantrums but so far, they are short lived and she is pretty easy to talk down of the ledge. She hates to be told No and will fling herself to the ground but we are all managing for now.

happy birthday to me

Last night my good friends took me out to this place for my birthday dinner. Not only were all of the hamburgers named after heavy metal bands but it was, quite possibly, the best burger I have ever had! I must go back for more!

Today was a bit more low key. Ryan is out of town but he sent me some beautiful flowers :) I had dinner out with family and then came home, had some cake and a nice big glass of wine.



But the best part of my birthday was spending it with this gal.

tubby time drama....or trauma

So, the other night the faucet in our tub randomly shot off the wall.

Into the tub.

During "tubby time".

Tiny didn't seem bothered, just a little spooked. It didn't hit her but made quite a splash and water continued to shoot out of the pipe. Very dramatic.

During this same tubby time, someone and I won't name names, had a bit of an accident in the tub. An accident involving poop.

This was way more frightening and horrific than the faucet incident and T clawed her way out of the tub and up me, screaming.

Well, now we won't take a bath. It is a huge fight with tears and everything and I feel really bad because she is constantly looking around in the tub as if a giant faucet or turd is coming to get her.

Last night she took a shower with me in the other bathroom and was totally fine.

Any suggestions? Or is tubby time doomed forever?
